Total ratio parts = Concentrate parts + Water parts
Concentrate volume = (Concentrate parts ÷ Total parts) × Final volume
Water volume = (Water parts ÷ Total parts) × Final volume
Dilution factor = Total parts ÷ Concentrate parts
Final active ingredient % = Concentrate % × (Concentrate parts ÷ Total parts) [only when concentrate % is provided]
Example — 1:32 ratio, 1 000 ml final volume:
Concentrate = (1 ÷ 33) × 1 000 = 30.303 ml
Water = (32 ÷ 33) × 1 000 = 969.697 ml

- A dilution ratio of 1:32 means 1 part concentrate to 32 parts water, giving 33 total parts.
- Volumes are assumed to be additive (i.e. no volume contraction on mixing), which is standard practice for water-based cleaning products.
- The "concentrate parts" field accepts decimals, allowing ratios such as 1.5:64.
- Final active ingredient percentage assumes the concentrate's active ingredient mixes linearly with water (no chemical reaction).
- Common commercial dilution ratios: all-purpose cleaner 1:32, heavy-duty degreaser 1:4 to 1:10, disinfectant 1:64 to 1:256 (follow label instructions).
