Home Charging Cost Calculator (Georgia Power Rates)

Estimate your monthly and annual EV home charging costs based on Georgia Power residential electricity rates, your vehicle's efficiency, and your driving habits.

Average U.S. driver: ~1,100 miles/month
Typical EVs: 2.5–4.5 mi/kWh. Check your owner's manual or EPA label.
Schedule EV-TOU off-peak hours: 11 PM – 7 AM weekdays, all day weekends.
Level 2 chargers are typically 85–95% efficient. Default: 90%.
Standard residential customer charge: ~$10.00/month. Enter 0 to exclude.

Formula

Step 1 — kWh needed by vehicle per month:
kWhvehicle = Miles per Month ÷ Vehicle Efficiency (mi/kWh)

Step 2 — kWh drawn from grid per month (accounting for charger losses):
kWhgrid = kWhvehicle ÷ (Charger Efficiency / 100)

Step 3 — Monthly energy cost:
Monthly Energy Cost ($) = kWhgrid × Rate ($/kWh)

Step 4 — Total monthly cost:
Total Monthly Cost ($) = Monthly Energy Cost + Monthly Base Charge

Step 5 — Annual cost:
Annual Cost ($) = Total Monthly Cost × 12

Step 6 — Cost per mile:
Cost per Mile ($) = Total Monthly Cost ÷ Miles per Month
