Siding Repair Cost Estimator
Estimate your siding repair or replacement cost based on damaged area, material type, labor rates, and additional factors.
Formula
Material Cost = Area × Material Rate ($/sqft) × Repair Type Multiplier × Damage Severity Multiplier
Labor Hours = Area × Labor Rate (hrs/sqft) × Repair Type Multiplier × Damage Severity Multiplier × Story Height Multiplier
Labor Cost = Labor Hours × Hourly Labor Rate
Removal Cost = (Area × $1.00) + $150 flat disposal fee (if selected)
Paint Cost = Area × $1.50/sqft (if selected)
Subtotal = Material Cost + Labor Cost + Removal Cost + Paint Cost
Total = Subtotal × 1.15 (overhead & profit)
Range = Total ± 20%
Multipliers used:
- Repair Type: Patch = 0.80×, Partial = 1.00×, Full = 1.15×
- Damage Severity: Minor = 1.00×, Moderate = 1.20×, Severe = 1.45×
- Story Height: 1-story = 1.00×, 2-story = 1.18×, 3+ story = 1.35×
Assumptions & References
- Material costs are mid-range installed prices per sq ft (materials only, not labor): Vinyl $2–$5, Wood $4–$8, Fiber Cement $6–$10, Aluminum $3–$6, Engineered Wood $4–$7, Stucco $7–$11, Brick Veneer $10–$18.
- Labor productivity rates sourced from RSMeans Residential Cost Data 2023 and Craftsman National Construction Estimator.
- Default labor rate of $65/hr reflects a national average for siding contractors; rates vary by region ($40–$120/hr).
- Story height multipliers account for scaffolding rental, lift equipment, and reduced productivity at height.
- Damage severity multipliers account for additional prep work, possible sheathing/insulation inspection or replacement, and increased waste.
- Removal & disposal cost of $1.00/sqft + $150 dumpster fee is based on typical tear-off pricing (HomeAdvisor 2023).
- Paint cost of $1.50/sqft assumes one coat primer + one finish coat of exterior latex paint.
- Overhead & profit markup of 15% is standard for residential contractors (NAHB).
- Estimates do not include permits (typically $50–$500), structural repairs, moisture barrier replacement, or trim work.
- The ±20% range reflects regional price variation, market conditions, and project-specific complexity.
