THC/CBD Potency & Serving Size Calculator
Calculate the amount of THC and/or CBD per serving, total number of servings, and cumulative cannabinoid content from edibles, oils, or flower.
Product Information
Desired Dose (Optional)
Formulas Used
Edible / Capsule:
- THC per serving (mg) = Total THC (mg) × (Serving Weight / Total Weight)
- Number of servings = Total Weight / Serving Weight
Oil / Tincture:
- THC per serving (mg) = THC concentration (mg/mL) × Serving Volume (mL)
- Number of servings = Bottle Volume / Serving Volume
Flower / Concentrate:
- THC per gram (mg) = THC% × 10 [since 1 g = 1000 mg, and 1% = 10 mg/g]
- THC per serving (mg) = THC per gram × Serving Weight (g)
- Bioavailable THC (mg) = THC per serving × (Bioavailability% / 100)
- Number of servings = Total Amount / Serving Size
Desired Dose Servings Needed:
- Servings needed = Desired dose (mg) / THC per serving (mg)
Assumptions & References
- Edible/capsule THC and CBD content is assumed to be uniformly distributed throughout the product.
- For flower and concentrates, 1% cannabinoid content = 10 mg per gram of material.
- Default inhalation bioavailability is set at 30% (range: 10–56%), reflecting average absorption via smoking or vaporization. Oral bioavailability (edibles) is typically 4–20% but is not deducted here as labeled mg already reflects intended dose.
- Bioavailability figures sourced from: Huestis MA (2007). Chemistry & Biodiversity, 4(8):1770–1804.
- Recreational low dose: 2.5–5 mg THC; moderate: 5–15 mg; high: 15–30 mg+ (Leafly / Steep Hill guidelines).
- CBD is non-intoxicating; common serving ranges are 10–50 mg depending on intended use.
