Waiver Wire Priority Calculator

Calculate a composite waiver wire priority score to rank player pickups based on projected points, ownership, injury status, schedule strength, and positional scarcity.

Your waiver wire priority score will appear here.

Formula

Priority Score = ProjectedScore + AvailabilityScore + TrendScore + ROSScore + ScheduleScore + ScarcityScore − InjuryPenalty

  • Projected Points Score = min(ProjPts / 40, 1) × 30  [max 30]
  • Availability Score = (1 − Ownership% / 100) × 20  [max 20]
  • Trend Score = ((TrendChange + 100) / 200) × 15  [max 15]
  • ROS Score = min(ROSPts / 400, 1) × 15  [max 15]
  • Schedule Score = ((6 − ScheduleRating) / 5) × 10  [max 10]
  • Scarcity Score = ((ScarcityRating − 1) / 4) × 10  [max 10]
  • Injury Penalty = 0 (Healthy) | 8 (Questionable) | 18 (Doubtful)
  • Final score is clamped to [0, 100].

Assumptions & References

  • Projected points ceiling of 40 (weekly) and 400 (rest-of-season) represent elite fantasy production benchmarks used by platforms such as ESPN and Yahoo Fantasy.
  • Ownership percentage reflects real-time league availability; lower ownership increases urgency to claim before others.
  • Ownership trend captures momentum — a rapidly rising player signals emerging value (Rotowire, FantasyPros methodology).
  • Schedule strength is rated 1–5 per standard fantasy schedule difficulty rankings (e.g., The Athletic, FantasyPros).
  • Positional scarcity reflects how replaceable the position is on the waiver wire (e.g., QB is abundant; RB is scarce in PPR formats).
  • Injury penalties are calibrated to NFL/NBA official injury designations: Questionable (~50% play probability), Doubtful (~25%).
  • Component weights (30/20/15/15/10/10) are derived from common fantasy analyst frameworks prioritising near-term production and availability.
  • This calculator is position- and sport-agnostic; adjust scarcity and schedule inputs per your specific league format.
