Water Loss Rate Calculator
Calculate the rate of water loss from a system (tank, reservoir, pipe, etc.) based on volume measurements over time.
Results will appear here.
Formulas Used
Volume Lost:
Vloss = Vinitial − Vfinal
Loss Rate:
R = Vloss ÷ t
where t is the elapsed time converted to the desired unit (seconds, minutes, hours, or days).
Percentage Loss:
% Loss = (Vloss ÷ Vinitial) × 100
Estimated Time to Empty (remaining volume):
tempty = Vfinal ÷ Rper hour
Assumptions & References
- The loss rate is assumed to be constant (linear) over the measurement period.
- No water is added to the system during the measurement period.
- All volumes are entered in liters (L).
- Loss can be due to leaks, evaporation, seepage, or consumption.
- The "time to empty" estimate assumes the current loss rate continues unchanged.
