Formulas & Logic

Age Conversion:

  • Age in weeks = Age (months) × 4.345
  • Age in weeks = Age (years) × 52.18

Vaccine Timing (Dogs — AAHA Guidelines):

  • DA2PP Series: Doses at 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age
  • DA2PP Booster: 1 year after puppy series, then every 3 years
  • Rabies: First dose at 12–16 weeks; booster at 1 year; then every 1–3 years (per local law)
  • Bordetella: From 8 weeks; booster every 6–12 months (lifestyle-dependent)
  • Leptospirosis / Lyme / Canine Influenza: From 12 weeks; 2-dose series; annual booster (high-risk only)

Vaccine Timing (Cats — AAFP Guidelines):

  • FVRCP Series: Doses at 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age
  • FVRCP Booster: 1 year after kitten series, then every 3 years
  • Rabies: First dose at 12 weeks; booster at 1 year; then per local law
  • FeLV: From 8 weeks; 2-dose series; annual booster (outdoor/mixed cats)

Next Due Date: Next Due (weeks) = Booster Interval − Weeks Since Last Vaccination

Overdue Threshold: If Next Due ≤ 0, vaccine is overdue and should be scheduled immediately.

Assumptions & References

  • Dog core vaccine schedule follows AAHA Canine Vaccination Guidelines (2022).
  • Cat core vaccine schedule follows AAFP Feline Vaccination Guidelines (2020).
  • 1 month is approximated as 4.345 weeks; 1 year as 52.18 weeks.
  • Rabies booster intervals may vary by jurisdiction and vaccine type (1-year vs. 3-year product).
  • Non-core vaccines (Bordetella, Leptospirosis, Lyme, FeLV, FIV, Canine Influenza) are recommended based on lifestyle risk level.
  • Maternal antibody interference is assumed to diminish by 6–8 weeks of age.
  • Weight is used for breed-size advisory notes only; vaccine doses are not weight-adjusted in standard protocols.
