How This Calculator Works

This calculator converts projected real-world NFL statistics into fantasy points using position-specific scoring formulas. The exact formulas used for each position are:

Stat CategoryPoints Per UnitFormula
Passing Yards0.04 per yardYards ÷ 25 = points
Passing Touchdowns4 per TDTDs × 4
Interceptions−2 per INTINTs × (−2)
Rushing Yards0.1 per yardYards ÷ 10 = points
Rushing Touchdowns6 per TDTDs × 6
Receptions (PPR)1.0 / 0.5 / 0Receptions × PPR value
Receiving Yards0.1 per yardYards ÷ 10 = points
Receiving Touchdowns6 per TDTDs × 6
Field Goals Made3 per FGFGs × 3
50+ Yard Field Goals+2 bonusLong FGs × 2 (added to base 3)
Extra Points Made1 per XPXPs × 1

The calculator computes Weekly Points = sum of all applicable stat × point values, then Season Total = Weekly Points × Number of Weeks. The tier classification compares your projected points-per-game against historical positional thresholds (e.g., 20+ PPG for an elite QB1, 15+ for an elite RB1 in standard).

The three scoring formats differ only in the reception bonus: Standard (0 points per catch), Half-PPR (0.5), and Full-PPR (1.0). This single difference significantly reshapes positional value — high-volume pass catchers gain 5–10 additional points per game in full PPR compared to standard scoring.

Fantasy Scoring Breakdown

Standard fantasy football scoring awards points as follows: passing yards (0.04 per yard, or 1 point per 25 yards), passing touchdowns (4 points), interceptions (-2 points), rushing and receiving yards (0.1 per yard, or 1 point per 10 yards), and rushing/receiving touchdowns (6 points). PPR formats add 1 point (or 0.5 in half-PPR) per reception.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I get stat projections?

Sites like ESPN, Yahoo, FantasyPros, and Football Outsiders publish weekly and season-long stat projections. Using consensus (average of multiple sources) tends to be more accurate than any single projector.

How accurate are fantasy projections?

Even the best projections have significant variance week-to-week. Season-long projections are more reliable, typically within 15-20% of actual production for established starters. Projections are most useful for comparing players, not predicting exact point totals.
